Why should you choose PCSC for your child?
Pacific Coast Soccer Club (PCSC) views soccer as a vehicle for teaching young people how to achieve success both on and off the field. We believe soccer players develop toward their potential when learning the game with peers and coaches in a positive and competitive environment. PCSC emphasizes skill development through consistent, active practice and challenging game experience. Coaches, volunteers and parents help our young players reach their goals as athletes and individuals, regardless of their socio-economic background, keeping in mind the values of teamwork, good sportsmanship, and all-out effort.

How long do tryouts last?
Tryouts for Club soccer generally start take place in the spring (February and March). The club website www.pacificcoastsoccerclub.org has information regarding “Open” tryouts.  Tryouts last 2 – 3 weeks and consist of player evaluation in practices and game settings. After the tryouts teams are formed in the month of April. If you have missed the major tryout period and are looking for team availability, please contact pcsctryouts@gmail.com.

How does club differ from AYSO?
Club soccer is considered “competitive” soccer in that players must earn a spot each year on each individual team. The majority of PCSC teams are “competitive”, but the club also has a recreational program through Autobahn Soccer Academy.

What are the coaches like?
All PCSC coaches are nationally licensed by the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) and are responsible for the development of both the teams and its individual players through the PCSC player development track that focuses on various aspects of soccer dependent on a player’s age. Coaches playing experience include NCAA Collegiate Players, Professional Players and US National Team Players.

How long is the Club Season?
Club soccer is considered year round. However, it is broken up into various seasons: May – August is considered pre-season where teams train to prepare for the league season that runs from September – November and December – April is considered tournament season where teams play in various tournaments.

How many times a week do teams practice?
Generally, teams will have 2 practices a week and during the fall season, with two games per week on Saturday and/or Sunday. Some teams playing at a higher level require three practices per week.

When are the games?
All league and tournament games are played on either Saturday and/or Sunday.

Where are the games played?
PCSC homes games are played at the following parks; Airport Park, Clover Park, Marine Park, Crossroads High School, and Penmar Park. Away games are dependent on teams within your league bracket or the location of the tournament the team has entered.

How much does it cost?
PCSC dues are set every year by its Board of Directors depending on cost each year relative to fields, coaching, league registration, etc…Individual dues will run between $1600 and $1800 per year plus a registration fee of $150.  In addition to the dues, new players will have a uniform fee.  Teams will also collect tournament fees in order to attend tournaments throughout the year.  These fees can be paid in advance or on a monthly basis.  PCSC has a sound financial condition and offers assistance with the associated club soccer expenses based on need.  Player expenses will start at registration and any monthly payments are made for the 9 month period from May to December.

Is there any time off?
Yes, the club typically shuts down in the month of July, although teams may still practice it is encouraged that all teams take this time away from soccer.
