US international centre back Omar Gonzalez suffered an injury during the recent training session for LA Galaxy. It has sparked rumours that the player could miss the preliminary squad for the World Cup 2014. LA Galaxy manager Bruce Arena, though, has said that the injury will not be serious as initially feared. This will come as a major boost not only for the US soccer fans, but also for manager Jurgen Klinsmann. The US will have a very tough World Cup ahead of them.
They will be coming up against Portugal, Germany, and Ghana in the group stages. This is seen as the group of death for this World Cup. However, Klinsmann has been sounding extremely confident about his team’s chances of progressing to the quarter-finals. He says that a lot of will depend upon the first game of the tournament against Ghana. If the US take three points from this match, then they could be potentially looking at progression.
