LA GALAXY SIGN PREMIER LEAGUE GOALKEEPER
Major League Soccer (MLS) giants LA Galaxy have signed a Premier League goalkeeper to bolster their squad ahead of the 2021 season. LA Galaxy needed to sign a new goalkeeper and they have moved for Jonathan Bond. His transfer from Premier League newcomers West Brom was announced at the end of last week. The transfer for the shot stopper was confirmed by LA Galaxy on Thursday.
Jonathan Bond has a US passport and this means that he won’t occupy an international roster at LA Galaxy. It’s a big bonus that the signing of Jonathan Bond won’t take up the already limited spot for international players at the club.
In a club statement to reveal the signing of Jonathan Bond from West Brom in the Premier League, LA Galaxy general manager Dennis tekloese described the new player as a quality shot stopper with the experience of playing at the highest level. Jonathan Bond is the product of HemelHempstead and he has been at West Brom since 2018.The LA Galaxy chief said the club is looking forward to the impact expected of the goalkeeper and that his signing was made to strengthen the goalkeeping department.
Jonathan Bond came through the ranks at Watford and he went on to represent the first team at the club. He has also featured for clubs like Reading and the already mentioned West Brom.
The new LA Galaxy player also played for several years in the lower leagues of English football. Jonathan Bond played for lower league English teams like Gillingham, Peterborough, Forest Green, Dag & Red FC, Brackley Town and Bury. In total, the new acquisition for LA Galaxy made 36 appearances in the English Championship and 40 appearances in the English League One during his time in England. He also played in 15 FA Cup clashes.
